Principal trumpet Martin resigns from Chicago Symphony Orchestra - Chicago Tribune
Christopher Martin, principal trumpet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra since 2005, has resigned from the orchestra, effective on Wednesday of this week, the orchestra has announced.
Martin is leaving to become principal trumpet of the New York Philharmonic. He has played first chair trumpet with that orchestra since the beginning of the current season, when he began a year's leave of absence from the CSO.
He has returned to the CSO on several occasions this season to perform as trumpet principal and served in that capacity during the orchestra's European tour last month under music director Riccardo Muti.
