Trumpet News From Around The World

Arturo and Freddie helping out

The future of jazz is in good hands. Thursday night's "Jazz at The Kessler with Arturo Sandoval" concert will indeed be special for 20 young musicians.

Dallas-based jazz musician and trumpet player Freddie Jones wants to insure that the next generation of jazz players get all the nourishing experience they can right now. So Jones, an instructor and mentor who has quietly worked behind the scenes to turn on at-risk kids to the world of jazz music, including purchasing trumpets for them to play, will accompany these young musicians Thursday night to the Kessler Theater for Sandoval's show.

But it gets better: Sandoval, a native of Cuba who has recorded more than 40 albums during his 35-year career, has agreed to speak to the kids.
